Some of it was little things like the neck binding no longer covered the fret ends, the pots weren't fitted with covers, different tuners and the Antique Sunburst finish wasn't quite the same.
The Riviera's I tried after '85 were not the same as mine. I don't think the 'Epiphone by Gibson' logo models were made by Matsumoku but I could be wrong.
